Tareek : Grandir Ensemble

People think that becoming a parent is what makes you an adult.

Tareek discovered it’s exactly the opposite: it’s by raising our children that we keep learning to grow up.

In Grandir Ensemble, Tareek draws on his everyday life as a single dad to talk about something that concerns us all: family, parenting, relationships, separation, teenagers, our own parents, our contradictions… and this strange era where everything changes faster than we do.

At the heart of this story is also his daughter, her identity and her mixed heritage: the richness of being born from several cultures, of carrying several legacies, and of growing up free to not have to choose between them. Through her, Tareek talks about transmission, differences, roots, and a question many parents ask themselves: how do you help your child know who they are, when the world sometimes wants to define them on their own behalf?

With his quick wit and gift for improvisation, he turns every performance into a real conversation with the audience. The audience doesn’t just watch the show: they’re part of it.

Between confessions, observations from everyday life and improv, Tareek asks one simple question: what if our children raise us as much as we try to raise them?

A funny, free and deeply human show about our struggles, our differences, our imperfect families, our many identities, and the adventure we all share:

trying to grow up together.
