Rungis

Behind the scenes of the world's largest market

Rungis, a temple of the restaurant business, is the world’s largest market for agricultural produce and fresh food, enabling Paris to maintain its position as the world capital of gastronomy. Fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, cheese, flowers, and a host of other products are on sale daily at this gigantic marketplace. More than two million tons of goods pass through it every year, serving 18 million consumers in France and across Europe. We’ve all heard of Rungis, but few really know it.
